IHACC graduate students Ingrid Rojas (PhD student, University of Leeds) and Rosa Silvera (MSc student, Cayetano Heredia University) recently participated in the Lancet Countdown Climate Change and Health Conference in Cusco, Peru. Hosted by Cayetano Heredia University and Universidad Nacional de San Antonio Abad del Cusco, this event also served as the Peruvian launch of the 2019 Report of the Lancet Countdown.

At the conference, Ingrid and Rosa had the opportunity to learn about local climate-health challenges as well as ways in which climate change researchers can take action to improve health and wellbeing both in Peru and beyond. Importantly, the conference emphasized the need to prioritize local knowledge when assessing climate change impacts, and served as a space for dialogue on these important issues.
